🔮 Many people come visit me in Vivendell*, asking : “How about this LNG glut ? When will Mordor gas come back to Middle Plains ? Why do shipowners want to destroy half of their fleet ? Is it a good idea to invest in these dull days ?” Some other people seem very convinced about their views.
🧝‍♂️ I was there, Gasdalf. I was there 3000 years ago**.
I was there when the Knights of Shyll took the precious rig at the Battle of the Permian, cutting Lord Marcellus’ finger. A rig of power. “One rig to rule them all” – at least, that’s what they thought.Â
They placed the Rig in the Royal Hutch of Shyll. For many years, peace and abundance prevailed. But one day, it changed. The Rig was stolen. Venthor, the Enchanter of BayĂ», cast a spell on the Royal Hutch. But other powerful Rigs existed in secret. Far in the East, the armies of Vodimir had marched for months. The Battle of Middle Plains had begun.Â
In the Kingdom of Jador, Prince Macorn mastered the great power of the Flame Anvil, but his army refused to take part to the fight. Chancellor Theolaf, son of Angelayn, grandson of Helmund, climbed to the Wings of Aeoliath, but was unable to complete the works in time. Theolaf was forced to give his daughter to DĂ´hn ald-Drumb, the Orange Goblin of the West, to save his people.

Lady Ursuliel, the Sorceress of the Twenty Seven Fiefdoms, came asking for our help. We sent many of our own ships through the gates of Mahr-a-Lagul, but Dôhn ald-Drumb the Tremendous and his envoy Jahd Ivâns made us pay a hefty price to leave the port with our goods on board. Because the dwarves of Gûgol and their cousins of Feyz-Bûk were mining deeper and deeper to fuel the Forges of Beet-Khoyn and Shaht-Jepithy.
Then Greta of Thurinberg bravely took EoWael, Baron of Shyll, to the Decarbonization Mountain. But some men are weak. Unlike the Great warriors of Aexmar and the Priests of Nakilath, who altogether threw the Four Jewels of Moss in the boiling lava, EoWael refused to destroy the Rig.

Remember, Gasdalf. The Fellowship of the Transition is a fragile alliance. For the cycles, they come and go. Humans are too short-sighted, believe me !

(** in LNG trading terms, “3000 years ago” is typically anything between last 7 decades, last 36 months and by the time you are finished reading this phrase.)
