In 2024, mankind cannot do without screens. They are everywhere – a natural extension of our brain. Actually they are consuming our brains little by little, as our brains become terminals, not servers.

As a former trader, I perfectly remember the feeling of getting numb, bombarded by data and stimuli, turned into a machine myself. Screen traders are most exposed to it – OTC traders have a few years before they get fully contaminated !
Whenever I am flying, I am trying to disconnect (ah, the good days when no wifi was available on planes…). I love the “raw dog” concept of staring at the map (good to learn geography), slow down the pace and get some time to think.
“Think out of the box” is now “think away from the screen”. With pen and paper. With conversations, memory, outdoors.
We must remember this – or we’re doomed…
